Warfordsburg Presbyterian Church

Doctrinal Statement (Continued)

We believe in righteous living and good works, not as the means of salvation, but as its evidence and the fruit of God’s salvation, which manifests itself in an outward working of these things.

Romans 12:1–2; Ephesians 2:8–10; Titus 3:8

We believe in the preservation of the saints. In simpler words, the eternal security of the believer (that it is not possible for the true child of God to lose his or her salvation).

John 10:28–29; Romans 8:35; Philippians 1:6; 1 Peter 1:5

We believe in the Church, which is the body and bride of Jesus Christ who is its head and gives it its mission and purpose as well as the local church in which it lives out its mission and makes itself known to the non believing world. This mission and purpose include worship, prayer, fellowship, stewardship, teaching, witnessing for Christ, and observing the Holy Sacraments of her Lord: Baptism

(whether infant or believer’s baptism it is the same baptism,) and the Lord's Supper.
Matthew 28:20; Acts 8:38; 16:33; 1 Corinthians 1:15; 11:23–24; Ephesians 5:25–3; Genesis 17:12

We believe that sexual immorality is a sin; and more specifically includes homosexuality

and many other forms as spoken to in scripture.
That said, we believe that no sin is unredeemable.
Lev 18:22; 1 Cor 6:9-11, Gal 5:19-21; 1 Thes 4:3.

We Believe that marriage is defined as follows:
Marriage is a gift God has given to all humankind for the
well-being of the entire human family. For Christians, marriage is a
covenant through which a man and a woman are called, to live out
together before God, their lives of discipleship. In a service of
Christian marriage, a lifelong commitment is made by a woman
and a man to each other, publicly witnessed and acknowledged
by the community of faith and God.
