Warfordsburg Presbyterian Church

Doctrinal Statement
These are the core beliefs that we as a church hold dear. These beliefs drive our vision and serve as the underpinning for all that we do.
We believe in one God, eternally existing in three persons, God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit, each equal in being, power, and glory. Matthew 28:19; Acts 5:3–4; Hebrews 1:8
We believe God created the heavens and the earth, including all life, "each after its own kind," by direct act and not by the random process of evolution. God continues to create even today in and

through the lives of all His elect, the body of Christ.
Genesis 1–2; John 1:3; Colossians 1:16–17; Hebrews 11:3
We believe the Old and New Testaments are written by man and inspired by God and are completely without error in the original writings, and are of supreme and final authority on every subject with which they deal. We believe that the Bible through the Holy Spirit provides a way for sinners to find faith and subsequently redemption. We believe the Bible is relevant in all ages and times and that God’s word will never pass away. 2 Timothy 3:16; 2 Peter 1:21; Matthew 24:35.
We believe in the Sovereign Lord Jesus Christ, God's only begotten Son, His virgin birth, His sinless life, His sacrificial atoning death for our sins, His bodily resurrection, and His personal, literal, and imminent return. We believe in the mystery that the incarnate Jesus who never ceased to both fully human and fully Divine. Matthew 1:23; Luke 24:36–43; John 1:1–3, 1:29, 3:16, 14:1–3; 2 Corinthians 5:21; 1 Peter 2:24
We believe in the distinct personality of Satan, and that he is the "god of this world," ruler of all the powers of darkness, and is destined to the judgment of an eternal justice in the lake of fire. We believe Satan to be at the root of all evil in the world, working through humanity’s sinful nature, opposing the work of Jesus Christ, and trying to deceive and mislead, if possible, even God’s elect.
Matthew 4:1–3, 24:24; 2 Corinthians 4:4; Revelation 20:10
Although man was created in the image and likeness of God, humankind fell from God’s grace in Adam's sin, thus the entire human race fell, inherited a sin nature, and became alienated from God; and that all of humanity, from the time of the Fall has been and continues to be totally depraved, and completely unable to remedy this lost condition. Genesis 1:26–27; Romans 3:22–23, 5:10–19; Ephesians 2:1–3, 2:12
We believe that man in his natural state can in no way save himself no matter how good his intentions or actions. Knowing this, God in His Sovereign role as creator, before the foundation of the world, made it possible for some to come to eternal life. This saving and loving act was accomplished in its entirety through the selfless and obedient death of God’s only begotten Son, our Lord Jesus Christ, on the cross. Through His death and resurrection, all our sins have been paid; past, present, and future. In response to this gracious act of God the Father drawing His elect to Jesus the Son, we respond by professing Jesus as Lord and Savior of our lives. When in the life of a sinner this happens, it is at that very moment a person passes from eternal death to eternal life. Therefore, we believe we are saved by grace alone through faith, which are both gifts from God the Father and made manifest in us through the Holy Spirit, which indwells all believers. In a blessed exchange, Jesus, on the cross, exchanges our sinfulness for His righteousness and then through the Holy Spirit presents us as His own body, the Body of Christ, to God the Father, blameless , sinless, and in perfect union with the Triune God.

Isaiah 64:6-7; John 3:16, 5:24, 6:37,44,47, 65; 14:6; Ephesians 1:3-6,11; 2:8–9; Romans 8:28-30,

We believe that the Holy Spirit regenerates people and at the moment of conversion, seals, baptizes, and indwells all believing sinners. We believe that He sovereignly gives to His elect spiritual gifts for service. 1 Corinthians 6:19; Ephesians 1:13; Titus 3:5; 1 Peter 4:10
